Djieien

This hideous spider monster is from the Native American people the Seneca people. Djieien is indestructible keeping the heart buried under its lodge much like the giants of later fairy tales whose hearts are hidden in a separate location. The story of the Djieien is that the hero Otheigwendha who encountered the Djieien. In a struggle with the Djieien Otheigwendha ripped a branch from a nearby tree and struck it at the monster in an attempt to kill it. He missed the Djieien but went into the earth and pierced the Djieien heart that killed it instantly.
